Pro 5.0 Shifter Upgrade
I just put in a Pro 5.0 shifter on my Tremec. Like night and day! The Tremec seemed to shift a bit rough like between 2-3 and 3-4. Would tend to hang up a bit also when shifting quickly. I tried several types of fluid but that did not improve it that much.
After installing the new shifter I was amazed at how smooth the shifting is now. Shorter throw too.
Shifter was 165.00 without the stick. http://www.pro-50.com/

Roscoe,
Which Tremec trans are you using? I just got a TKO II and I am wondering if I should make the change.

Jack-
I'm going to order a TKO II next week. On Roscoe's recommendation, I think I am going to get it from Swarr Auto -they seem to have the best price I have been able to find. Where did you find the best deal?
Thanks,
Mike

Jack,
I'm using the 3550 but the shifter will fit all Tremecs. I think you will find the upgrade well worth the money. It is just a pleasure to shift now.

I put one on my SPF when new. It does live up to the press release. As you said. "It is worth the money"

Roscoe/Lew-
Are you still able to use the forward bent shifter handle with that shifter?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Sure, I ordered the Pro 5 without the 'stick' and just attached my Cobra shifter. I did have to get longer bolts but that was no problem. Because of the short throw the shifter handle does not go as forward. In my case this is good because it was very close to hitting the dash in first.

About the forward bent handle. Yes! in fits. Make sure you use Locktite on the two bolts. They can work loose. (that happen too me). Works great. With short postitive throws. Well worth the money.

TKO and 3550 have slightly different shifters in them from the factory in mexico. They can be interchanged without problems, but the lever ratio is slightly different out of the box between them.

Roscoe,
Did you get the shifter directly from the Pro 50 website for $165? Only price I could find was $209
Updating my Christmas List.

JB,
I called them and told them I did not want the shift lever as I had the Cobra one. He quoted me the 165. Call and ask for Joe.
Also, I drove down to Kenilworth, about 1/2 hour, and picked it up.
