Driver's side mirror location

Hi all
I have the mirror to mount still for the drivers side. Is there a best or specific place for it on the fender that is where it "should" be??

Also should a car thats supposed to be in the S/C theme (

me ), even have this style of mirror or should I be going for the Raydot that mounts of the windshield frame?

I would suggest that you first consider "form" over "function", or "what looks 'real' " vs. what works safely.
I purchased a pre-owned car, and the location of my mirror sucks. If it wasn't for the hole left in the fender after the mirror was removed, I'd make the change for something that works in a New York minute.
Pick out a mirror that looks like it will "see" what you want to see, then sit in the car and have someone move it around until you find a spot that works for you. Put it there

I first mounted mine in the stock location but the windshield and windwing were in the way. I removed it.
1. I thought about putting on the door itself, behind the windwing. Make sure you have travel around the windwing though.
2. Lorenzo sells a bracket that would put the mirror on the windshield piller and it is up in the air. I think it would pretty functional up there.

Of course I havent done any of these yet so...

I have both left & right mirrors mounted about 1 foot in front of the windshield base. They work OK there. I do need to adjust it just right to be happy with what I see. Remember that you don't need to see the whole car. If you see a piece of it there is a pretty good chance the rest of the car is there.

You also hear most cars as they come up along side. That and a quick over the sholder look and I've been fine so far (20,000 miles)
I also agree with Tim. It's your car, put it where you want to!

Mine was on the door. Opening and closing the door loosened the mirror, the screws stripped, it was a nightmare and I couldn't see nothing in it anyway!

Fender mount or Ray Dot on the side of the window if you want it to "work".

I am leaning more towards the windshield mounted one myself.

I mounted my Raydyot on the windshield pillar - in most other places you just get a good view of the rear fender. Pictures are in my gallery. If you type in "Raydyot Mirror" to the Search facility on this site you will find lots of other comments/pictures.

Go with the windshield mounted Raydyot, using a bracket Enzo sells at Finish Line. Very Nice.

Make sure you mount the variation with the CONVEX lens. Gathers in much more of a field of view.

I used the talbot-style mirrors. They look great, but visibility is rough due to the rise and flare of the rear fenders. Plus my location is not quite right. I am going to relocate before painting. My Everett Morrison Manual shows placing the mirrors (WHAT SEEMS EXTREMELY) far forward on the fenders, over the front top corner of the side louvers. I thought it looked strange, but I can understand the logic behind this placement now. The right side mirror, as small as the lens is, is almost useless anyway.... for the driver. I trust my rearview and a quick glance more than the mirror. I usually only look at the side mirror when I am backing in and out of the garage. ( I am usally in the Passing Lane!!!) .
