Default Combustion Chamber Coatings

Does anyone have any information / experience with thermal barrier coatings for the piston crown or the combustion chamber surface on the cylinder head? Specifically, does it increase or decrease the likelyhood of detonation/spark knock?
Thanks,

Bill

Decreases detonation. I believe one of the bigger company's names is "Techline Coatings"

Do a google search.

Decreases detonation is correct, but has a definate life span and will peal off eventually. Check the expected lifespan on a street engine as the only ones using them are on racecars, not streetcars. I also have been told repeatidly that a well polished head/piston dome works about as well.
