Default Sinkhole Corvette: The Lord gives and He takes away.

Infamous Sinkhole Corvette: It was lost in a 50-ft sinkhole that developed in the parking lot at Buffalo's Resturant parking lot. This is what's left of the new--at the time--2002 Vette the owner parked out of "harm's way" in a far corner of the lot, Hickory, NC. This low-mileage Vette is shown sitting in the same spot one year later.

Yes, I've blown off Vettes, but not this bad!

How'd it happen? A leak in the storm drain that ran under the parking lot erroded soil during a hard rain, which allowed the ground to cave in, taking the Corvette with it and tons of soil. It took months for laywers, politicians, bureaucrats, the insurers and restaurant owner to get things sorted out and to establish blame before work could begin to repair the damage . . . and pay for the repairs. Once they got started, crews dredged up the Vette during the process of repairing the drain and parking lot. Great job considering the restaurant nearly went in with the car.

A funny comment on the Z06 web site; "I'm glad it wasn't a Z06!"

That car does not get repaired.

It gets gracefully put out of its misery!

What color will the new one be?

That is a prime example of why I don't use automated car washes... They tend to be a little tough on the exterior....

Actually, I was wondering if they were going to part it out. But, then again, it would be like disturbing the dead . . .

Looks like a good picture for a caption contest...

"Several hours after eating a 'Vette, this Cobra embarrasses it's owner with a bowel movement in the parking lot."

I told you to stay away from the Cobras side pipes when I rev it up!
