find Fuel pump for 427?

Guys,
I'm not having any luck at my local auto part stores finding a stock mechanical fuel pump for my 427. Is the Holly unit really the only one available?

Summit has the Carter street style mechanical pumps: $59.95
#CRT M6905. These are 6lb rating

Didn't see a listing for the strip pump.

NAPA has one made for them by carter,120 gph #m6905, and AC also makes one .

Stay away from the Holley one that ends with 390 in the number,It has the wrong arm on it .I have a new one in my 1964 427FE and took a while to figure out why wasn't getting gas. Put old AC in ,and solved problem.

Do NOT buy Holley mechanical pumps.

What used to be something that ran for thousands of miles now became the least reliable part on my car. Three of them within 6 months.

First one only lasted two weeks.

When I called Summit, I was surprised to hear they were back ordered at least a month or two. That was about year and a half ago.

I got to thinking what the chances were everyone and their brother was building and FE motor and needed a Holley pump.

Answer was very clear to me. Looking at the quality of fit and finish and how the two pumps basically disintegrated, I assume they are built in China or Taiwan or some place like that.

I could have gone to a junk yard and picked one up out of a car or truck with 100,000 miles on it, and it probably would have lasted longer.

The backorder at Summit could have been due to people like me calling and asking for a replacement. I don't remember Summit being backordered for months on ANYTHING.

Go with Carter. No problems at all..

Steve get a Carter, that's what the 60's FE'S mostly used anyway. I think Cobra's had an AC pump but am not sure. Or if you go to a swap meet find an original carter with the X on it and buy a diapram kit and rebuild it if it needs it.

I didn't think of replacing the diaphram. good idea.
