Racing Harness fitting question
Hi all,
I have the 5 point (not using the "croach strap") latch type seat belts (bought from www.cobraacessories). It has the "Y" fitting behind the rear seat which tends to move side to side, i.e. if you lean to one side then the seat belt becomes much longer as it no longer follows the back of the seat. My concern is the following: in the horrible thought of having to lock brakes or an emergency stop is this a safe set-up where effectively IF the seatbelt stays directly in the center of the seat (fiberglass shell) will the belt work or simply crush the seat and injure me and anyone else in the car? In the event that the seat belt slides to the side then it no longer is 'snug' and becomes much longer and maybe my face hits the wheel.
What can I do to make it safe and ensure the belt stays where it should. The brackets are bolted through the floorpan with large bolts, but I fear the "Y" approach creates a problem that I did not anticipate with 4 point belts which ironically mount on either side of the seat.
