Pipe for Upper Radiator Hose
 
Does anyone know where I could get a pipe, bent to the proper shape, with a fitting for a fan thermostat switch to fit a 351W in a Contemporary Classic?

Try a muffler shop. They can bend a nice stainless 2 inch pipe and weld a fitting into it for your temp. sensor.

Try using ridged copper tubing available from any home improvement store. You can get say 2 or 3 feet of needed length and diameter, elbows in 45* or 90* etc.. You can solder just about any shape needed and the NPT bung thats needed for a t-stat or sensor in place needed. Be careful not to get solder on wrong area. Once you are happy with job it is easily and cheaply chromed for about 25 bucks.:D :D

Try Burns Stainless in Southern California they offer stainless mandrel bent tubing in "U" bends, "J" bends or straight lengths too. They also have aluminum tubing in the same. They are a high end custom exhaust header fabricator. They work with several Nascar teams. If you know the dimensions, they can probably knock it out for you.

Suggest putting fan t-stat into intake manifold where water exits the head. Drill & tap pipe thread if extra water jacket outlet needed.

Stainless exhaust tubing works great for radiator to engine plumbing.

There is an article in the Oct. 03 Popular HotRodding on Jack Burns. His stuff is pure art. A set of his headers and sidepipes are probably more than mine engine is worth.

I thought the original 351Ws had a port on the water neck to allow a temp sensor.

The drill and tap method has worked for me in the past. Just remember to use a vacume to pull all the chips out and make sure you run the sensor in before you finish up.

Check the sensor to make sure it does not need a ground to operate. If is does, you may NOT want to use teflon paste. The resistance will give you a bad reading.
