Chuck,
Make absolutely sure that before you do ANYTHING to the 'glas, let it sit out in direct sunlight for several days and wash it very well several times with a good wax and grease remover. All fibreglass will have mold release agent on them and I can all but gaurantee you that the manufacturer did not clean it very well. You must do this otherwise you will most likely have major downstream problems. Once you do this it is little different than working with any other fillers. If you want a straight body, you will need to spend hours upon hours blocking-priming-guide coating, blocking-priming-guide coating, blocking-priming-guide coating etc... prior to final prep for paint.
