does SHE have keys to the cobra?

This is Neils wife, and we are haveing an ongoing "talk" about MY set of keys to the cobra. He says there are no such thing! It will not be on the road till april so we have time to settle this. I would just like some input as to if your other halves have their own set of keys.

something to ponder, if ya dont do it now :

AFTER the divorce she most likely will have BOTH sets of keys, AND the car. of course, if she is real smart, she will not press that issue til the CAR IS DONE !

just a thought ! bill

When mine is finished NO SHE WONT...too powerful, too unpredictable for her experience....besides, she is an excellent cook and I'd hate to loose her.

And...I now refer to her as "the first wife", just to keep her on the defensive. :D

Ouch!! EEkkk!!.....yes dear..I'll be good!!

Mrs. Neil,
I think you are braver than most wives. Most of them don't WANT a set of keys to the car. My wife is a car nut like me. She enjoys sports cars. I actually have two sets of keys to the Cobra. She knows where they are kept. But she wants no part of either one. I'm not sure if she's more afraid of the car, or how upset I would be if she damaged it.

OK, I said that because she isn't here to beat me over the head. That said, I think you should have keys to the car. One of the greatest joys I get with the car is sharing it with my wife. We've done two Cobra picnics, the Spring Fling, 4th of July Parades, late night ice cream runs, etc...with it. We have a great time together with it, even though she doesn't drive it. Hey, she still likes to ride in it despite the 2 snake bites she has on her legs. Though now that she is pregnant, next year will be different. If you are willing to drive it and understand how upset Neil will be if something happens, YOU GO GIRL!!!!

Yes to all I have, she can drive anything WE own, the ony way to enjoy this hobby, not to say we guys need time to our selves and buddies. Tout

I offered her a set of keys, but she declined. While she loves to go for a drive in the car, she has no interest in driving it. Her loss is my gain. What I have found out from all my years of experience is that it is better to offer her the keys and let her decline the offer than not offering her at all.

She sure does!

But with that said, the car does seem to intimidate her to drive. She will on occasion but generally she prefers to be the passenger and not the driver. All I care about is that she loves it and enjoys our time together in it.

SHE SURE DOES

She can get in the trunk anytime she wants to. Thats where the polish and rags are kept. so she has to have a key. I dont see what all the trouble is about this:LOL:

Now to the truth **)

I did not spend 1/2 a day on those damn adjustable seat tracks for nothing.

No addiction is any fun by yourself.

My wife enjoys the Cobra most as a passenger. She has driven it and enjoyed it very much but I'd be surprised if she ever wanted to take it by herself. What she really wants is for me to finish her Bugeye Sprite.

mmattison,
My wife has keys but does not like to drive as it is a little wild for her. She did ask if I would build another just for her. Wants it to be more to her spec.'s like color, mild small block, soft top so it will not give her Cobra hair etc.. I said yes and am damn happy she wants to be so involved. Cobra people are GREAT and going to events to meet even more Cobra people is what we enjoy most. Ask hubby to build one to your spec.'s so you do not need his keys.

I offered to let her drive once. Thank goodness she can't reach the pedals.

To quote my favorite movie of late (Meet the Parents): "Are you crazy Phocker?"

All kidding aside, the wife does not know how to drive a manual transmission, so it is a non-issue. At first she wanted me to teach her on the Cobra, but now that she has driven in it she has a healthy "respect" for the car, no longer wants to drive it and is content being a passenger. (Phew, now I can stop worrying:) )

She has asked for her own a 289fia with an automatic. Now that is something that I am in full favor of:D

Yes, she has a set of keys.. She takes the Cobra shopping.

NO!

The Cobra scares the heck out of my wife. She will ride as a passenger but drive it, no. She tried it once got it into 2nd then told me that much power should not be allowed on the street.

My wife has a set of keys to the car, but not to the gararge it is in.
I will give her the keys to the shop anytime she wants to take it for a spin. This year she has only taken it one time.

KK -

So your manly "personal pastime" in your Cobra makes up for all that sex you aren't getting from your wife OR a mistress? ;)

I'm single, but stay in close touch with my X. I'd give her the keys because I know she's a great driver.

Knowing some of my friends wives, there is no way in hell I'd let them drive.

I guess it comes down to the percieved ability of the driver in question.

My wife has set of keys to it - first time she drove it we were caught in a downpour. After she pulled it into the garage - both of us soaking wet - her first words were "Mine! Mine! Mine!". She won't drive it without me in the car though - at least not yet. FWIW, she learned to drive in an SS 396 and has owned/driven sports cars most of her life.

Drive it and enjoy it - both of you.
