Question Hood struts

Has anyone installed hood struts on a Classic Roadster? If so where did you get them, how did you install them, and most of all how do they work?

Art,
I know several guys have done this and I'm thinking about it for my trunk. I have noticed that several autoparts stores have struts on display now. At my local AutoZone they had a book with the typical make & model selections. In the back there was a section on the struts themselves listing there strength, and length, both compresed and extended. I'm sure some bracket fabricating may be in order but it shouldn't be to bad. Sorry not to be any more specific.

We have installed struts on the Classic both on the hood and the trunk. The hood is not really set up for it as it tends to bow were the strut is attached. The trunk is a better for the strut set up as it is stronger.

Default hood and trunk struts

Hi Art, I have struts on both my hood and my trunk. I got mine from McMaster Carr and both sets work great. I installed two 60 pound for the hood and two 30 pound for the trunk lid. The hood struts mount to the hood hinge (circlular part) and down to the radiator mount. The trunk struts mount on the inside of the trunk lip about halfway (front to back) and down to the 1st vertical rise in the forward wall. I am sorry but I do not have photos.
