Race Deck Tiles
OK. I've done the searches for garage floor coatings and I am leaning heavily towards the Race Deck tiles. I want to hear some testamonials from people with Race Deck installed. How long has it been installed? How is it holding up? What colors are you using?I hear the white is hard to keep clean. I am thinking of yellow and graphite. Is there a similar competing product? Is the CC discount still available? I am looking at a 21' x 34' garage. Any advice or comments are welcome. Current photos of a 3+ year installation would be great.

I put a 30'X60' Race Deck flooring in my garage about 6 months ago. It is great! I went with alloy as it does not show the dirt as much as white, but it still reflects a lot of light. I have spilled lots of gasoline, brake cleaner, carb cleaner and other bad things on it and its still looks great. Oil and two stroke gas/oil mix clean up easily without stains. You can use a jack on it. Also, it's not slippery when wet, unlike an epoxy floor. Call Bob Evans.

I tracked in a bit of snow and ice and it was fine. It was not slippery at all. I track in mud all of the time from dirt bikes and I just let it dry and then sweep away the dirt.
Another reason why I chose Racedeck is because I have a freshly poured floor in the bottom of a barn that stays somewhat damp. It would have taken forever the cement to fully cure before I could have applied paint. No affiliation here, just happy with the product. |

I have had race deck in my garage for over two years now and it has been great. I went with the red and graphite as the white shows the red Martian type dust we have around here to bad. I have had mine wet from snow, washing machine ran over and dumped suds and water all over, and also from rain dripping off the cars. The only thing I did was lift up the tiles near the washing machine and wipe out the soap suds. I think one of the pictures in my album shows some of the floor from the front. I also use a floor jack and jack stands and the Kwik Lift on it and no problem at all. Ron :) |

No, I have no trouble at all rolling the tool boxes around or on the creeper. I have out door carpet under the Kwik Lift because I like to nap once in a while when I am under the car WORKING. As for the Kwik Lift, I really like it. I got mine just after they started making them as I had no clearance for a lift in my garage and I really have used it a lot. Now I can do in 5 minutes what used to take me 2 hours to do. I can also change the width to use it for any of my other cars and it will lay flat in the floor if I want. I was in my local Sears hardware store the other day and I'll be damned if I didn't see Race Deck type tiles there. They were being marketed under another name. I do not know if Race Deck is their supplier. They are avail in about 5 different colors. I know the Kirkhams use Race Deck tiles in their shop...... A nice endorsement. Steve |
How was Sear's prices? I was considering getting Race Deck tiles but man they're expensive. I could practically add a blower to my 302 for the price of flooring my 20' x 30' garage.

Sears carries two lines. The Craftsman brand is $54 for a box of 20. The other brand is called Gladiator. That line is so new to Sears, they could not give me a price yet. Both brand's construction appears to be almost identical. Photos to come when my son gets off the other computer. Steve |

I installed Race deck a few months ago and I love it. It looks great and you can take it anywhere if you are attending a cool show. I chose black and graphite and made a checker pattern out of it. Check Autobarn.com for pricing. I believe they were the cheapest whe I was looking. Here's a pic...

Have you decision on a floor yet. I am getting ready to buy something soon myself. I got a price from my local race deck dealer of about 3.60 per square foot (Diamond plate floor). I thought that was a bit high. Any better prices out there? I went to sears yesterday to look at their tiles. They look almost identical to race deck. It prices out to about 2.60 per square foot. Who is the best person to contact at Race deck for a CC discount. I am in NJ and I need about 350 tiles. Thanks |
Since there are a number of guys with the race deck floor I wondered if you have a problem with tile noise. A vendor at a recent car show was showing the tiles. A friend of mine suggested rubber tiles instead because the race deck tiles are hard and will clack when you walk or drive on areas that aren't level. That makes sense because they are made of polypropylene and they will clack when banged together.

I have not heard any clacking noises with mine and I have some uneven spots on my floor. The tiles are somewhat pliable.
Call Bob Evans of Race Deck of Southern California. There are other Race Deck dealers in many geographic areas, but Bob was the one running the CC discount program. Bob also provided excellent service. He's a good guy. |

When walking in the Kirkham's shop it sounds like you are walking on....... well, plastic tiles that are sitting on the floor. They are not silent like a traditional tile floor. I would suggest Finding someone with a racedeck floor to see (hear) for yourself if you think it might bother you. Steve |
Depending on what shoes I have on when I walk on mine they do sound a little different from when I had the floor painted, but I have never heard a clack. Leather sole shoes do make a different sound but I never even noticed it until this post brough this up.
