power valve recamendations
You would think the Cam manufactures with all the information they have before they reccamend or make a cam ,would be able to reccamend a power valve range that would work. They surely know about how much vacume an engine will maintain with what cam and carb setup. When you ask for a reccamendation they ask every questio upto and incluning what you had for lunch.
Mine is a 427 Ford side oiler aluminum Dove Canadian Super Cobra Jet heads, 11.5 -1,Dove tunnel wedge 2x4 intake two 600 cfm Holley 4160 carbs.Comp Cams solid lifter cam 252° at .50" and .598"lift>That is close enough.Oh sealevel.

I don't know of any way to determine the right PV other than hooking up a vacuum gauge and measuring the actual vacuum on your motor. That's easy to do though. If you don't have a vacuum gauge you can buy one for about $20 or rent one for a couple bucks.

I have a vacum gauge but getting the thing to a point of running to determine what power valve would make it right. The plugs are all black now .Start with freshened plugs.still have to set timing adjust valves etc.

Mike, one aggravating thing about the PV's is the gasket, you need to hold it in a centered position while you tighten it by hand, once snug then put the wrench to it. From your description I would start with a 5.5 PV and work from there.

Mike, I'm still asleep.......The rambling about the PV gasket was just to let you know it will leak and dump gas like crazy if it's not installed correctly....I know...
