Default Finishing the boot/trunk

One of the (many) jobs that never really got finished properly when I built the car was trimming the inside of the boot. What methods have people used to finish the large rounded spaces on either side formed by the rear wings? They are quite ugly to look at being just the 'raw' glass mat but look much to complicated to carpet. You could box them in but that would lose a lot of valuable space. Any ideas?

Try "splatter paint", a mix of green, black, white [or gray] specks which was used on many oem trunks and interiors of the 50's - 70's. It makes the weave disappear and if done neatly is very presentable.
Eastwood is a good source.
Good luck,

That sounds interesting, where would you get such stuff? Is it house paint or car paint? I guess it must be quite thick to smooth out the weave.

Myles,
Led you astray..Eastwood doesn't have it.
Instead go to duplicolor.com
Then click on "products"
Then select "spatter paint"
It's car paint and it's not designed to smooth the weave. It makes the weave much less apparent because it's fine specks of multiple colors. I did my ERA's inner fender areas and trunk underside and it looks very neat, understated and looks much better than flat black IMHO.
Good luck,

Era Chas,
yes thanks, just back from the weekend. Looked up the spatter paint on their site and looks good. Will try and source some locally although I am tempted to try and skim something over the weave first to smooth it out a little. Maybe some filler primer or that stoneguard stuff. Just working on the fuel filler piping and so on at the moment. It is great to get back and do properly all the things that were 'not quite right' first time around.
