Overflow Tank Location

In my Cobra, I'm gonna use a Jaz recirculating overflow bottle.....so it can be used as an overflow when the fluid expands, but will allow the radiator to suck it back in.

Should the tank be mounted above the radiator to aid in drawing the fluid back, or should it be mounted along the same elevation as the radiator? Currently I think the radiator sits below the water pump.....and my Moroso inline filler neck w/ cap is the highest point.

I don't think it matters with that style of tank as long as it is mounted roughly vertically. More important is where you feed it from.

Mount it vertically at a level between the middle and top of the radiator. You will also need the type of radiator cap that seals the very top of the opening so a vacuum will be created when it begins to cool down, and use an overflow hose that will not colapse when vacuum is applied. Initially the tank should have coolant in it so air is not sucked into the cooling system when it cools down.

I have a radiator cap that has a cam lock on it to vent at will. Would that be sufficient?

Also, is it detrimental that the overflow tank is mounted at this height? The radiator sits so low in the car....I don't know if I can mount it down that low. Of course I'm trying to see this from memory because the car's not in front of me......

I'm still working on it, mine is a Summit tank mounted vertically about the same height as the T filler. Hope that helps some.
