Building 427 chassis
Good morning CC,
I am still building the 427 chassis based on Cobra Restorer's blueprints and wonder how accurate they are in the cowl / radiator frame area in regards to total height.
How far is the front fender of a CSX car (the upper most part) from the ground? 26.5" or more like 28"?
How far is the oil cooler from the ground (the lowest part of the body)? 5"?
Or if you can't crawl under your car, how far is the front indicator from ground? 16"?
That is all based on chassis to ground of 5" and would help me dramatically to position the body.
This body can be easily mounted 3" up or down in the front without beeing stressed...
Thanks,
Dom

Dom,
I have been following your project with great interest. I don't have any answers for you. I do have a couple of questions.
How is the quality of the Cobra Restorer prints you are using? Do they not supply these dimensions?
Do the prints include the suspension a-arm information? what about the upright dimensions?
Steve

Steve,
the drawings show the relevant simensions, but the CSX 4000 body has the fender a bit higher than a Contemporary or SPF.
not much, but 1" in one direction plus antother may cancel each other out, or add together to 2".
Youknow what I mean?
Everything tells me though, that the Restorer's drawings are correct, but it can be confusing sometimes.
Nobody out there with some very basic measurements, front fender to ground or oil cooler ground clearance?
No, suspension parts are not included, but I know where to get them.

Der braucht später ja 'ne LKW Zulassung. Meist du nicht die verwendeten Rohre sind etwas zu dick ???
KIRKHAM baut tolle Rahmen, sogar mit Alu Karosserie.

Fritz,
these are the correct tubes for the Fibre car.
I know that KMP builds good chassis, but mine cost only a quarter than importing one.
Let alone a chassis with alu body.
Let's see:
body/chassis (if you sell seperately) EUR 20.000 * 1.3 = USD 26.000 * 1,36 for customs and tax
= 35360 USD.
plus shipping...
You won't believe how much "Superformance" I get down here for that money, let alone build a car myself.
Do you have an affordable chassis for me?
I already had a reasonable offer from the US to this thread.
Now can you maybe measure at on one of your cars for me?
