Stereo install
Probably going to take some flack for this one from the traditionalist but I was wondering where the best place to mount a deck is on my FFR. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of the V-8 in my ears, but sometimes I want a nice tune to cruise to.

Unless you have one heck of a amp and speakers a stereo is useless in one of these cars. If you just have to have one use a remote and hide it under the dash or in the trunk. Wish the previous owner of my car had done that. I've used the thing once while driving, maybe 3 times while parked. I have an amp and some great speakers but the only way to hear it is to crank it to near full volume, then sound like every ricer on the road with the thumpin' bass.
I use an I-pod and headphones on long drives

I have cruise contol, a size 12 Nike! hehe. I just love my music, and like to share it with people sometimes to see if they like it too. hehe, just kidding. I like the Ipod thing, though it might be illegal here in AZ (headphones while driving), I will have to check. Anyways, I still have my cruise control....hehe

Okay, I would say Gary, G.R., has a very sound observation. I tried turning on the radio, more than once, and well, it just does not sound that good with the side pipes over powering all sound.
It is okay when the car is parked, but other than that, it is not good for driving.
Just my $0.02

Stereo
Don't have an FFR but I mounted a Kenwood deck to the back of the cockpit on my Street Beast. Completely hidden unless yo bend way over and look up. Using the remote control and pointing at the speedo glass, it works fine, and I can hear it fine without an AMP. Electric antenna as well.

In addition to the rumble, I like my oldies also. But, like most have said, over about 40 MPH (top off), sterio gets turned off. With exhaust, and wind noise, I can't hear it. Top on, I can hear it all the time.
Put the receiver right in the dash. You can see it in one of my posted pix. Put electric antenna in rear fender. Looks cool. Put a 60w amp in trunk, and it's too small. Need at least 100w, or 150w. Absolutely cannot chintz on speakers. They have to take the watts without distorting. Infinity Kappas or comparible.
Sounds cool at a hot rod, and street rod outing with the oldies playing.

I used a flexible antenna in the trunk and it works fine. Had a nice Blaupunkt 40x4 that you could hear just fine up to about 75mph. When your oil pressure guage breaks and leaks hot oil on the head unit it does bad thins to the PCB.
