So you know what I am working with here, I have a chrome plated water outlet (with barely any lip on it), and a flexible stainless steel radiator hose connecting to it with a rubber collar on it and the typical hose clamps to keep it on.
Well, it will not stay on the water outlet neck without popping off once pressure builds in the cooling system.
What is the trick to keep it on and not moving?
I have gone as far as using 2 clamps side by side to keep it in place with no luck. I have used sandpapper to scratch it up with no luck. I have tightened the clamps as hard as humanly possible with no luck.
I am currently using a pressure tester on the system, once up to 16 psi, the radiator cap bypass starts working fine and unloads into the overflow tank.
But right around the 16 psi, off comes the upper radiator hose.
Someone please help, I already took a bath once by the car.......
Besides looking for a new water outlet, the obvious choice right?
Anyone know any other tricks?
