Default rear hub removal

Before i try to take this off, anyone have any guidance onhow to do this?...if I take that castle nut off am i looking at removing the whole axle?...i need to take off that hub and rplace it...the lug nut studs are all broken and stripped off in the hub. we have a jag dealer hear in savannah so iwas hopping to bring the part into them to see if they can get me another hub.

ok never mind i got the hub off, bearings and all, i have never worked on a jag IRS before so i was very amazed about how the rotor is up by the pumkin and not at the wheel. When i pulled the hub out 2 small Chrome rings fell off, one beveled and one small one. I need to know how these go back on the axel before i reassmeble.....is there a schematic i can use as reference?...or can someone give me guidence?....Please?....

thank you that does help.....have any idea of hard it is to track down a hub?......I really want to get this car back on the road by the weekend, car show commin up.....

Is the hub bad?

If it's the studs they are screw-in for the stock Jag hubs. The thread is the same as the outer portion - 1/2-20 if memory (?) serves. You need to grind or chisel off the staked-over area on the inner or differential side and unscrew them.

New studs are (fairly) readily available as they fit a whole bunch of years.

The hard part is re-staking the inner ends after the new studs are screwed in. Takes a pretty big press or hammer

Another possibility is to pick up a hub at a wrecking yard. I've had pretty good success with that as long as I could see them before I bought them. If you go that route, be sure to get the spacers so the bearing free play can be set correctly - as explained in the ERA manual. You may still have to buy some different thickness spacers depending on how the the hub & upright go together.

i dont know if the hub is bad, there are 3 lugs broken in them, and i dont have a press or anything to use to fix this, i have the hub off the car. with the bearing still on it...like i said i have very limited resources and knowledge in this stuff, but the willingness to learn. I dont have a shop to work on this kinda stuff. The hub looks like one the holes for the lug stud maybe stripped so i dont know if i should still use it. has to be someone who carries these parts. Is there a way to tell what year system it is?....number location etc etc?....

You can normally drive out the lugs with a good size hammer.
