Hi-Tech chassis w/ CSX4000 body
I have a completed Hi-Tech chassis and an unfinished CSX4000 body. Forgive my ignorance, but how do I fix the body to the chassis? When this hurdle is crossed, I am very close to being finished. Should I install engine/trans before I prep and paint the body or after?

Do you have any photos of the chassis so I can see exactly what you have? It'll make it easier to explain.

You also might want to let us know if the body is alloy or glass, and if the chassis is setup for alloy or glass, as they are different in mounting.

Is this the Hi-Tech that makes Superformance? In other words, is this a Superformance chassis?

Hi-Tech chassis
No, it is not a Superformance chassis. It is a chassis from the now defunct Hi-Tech company that was started by Tom D. (don't know how to spell his last name) who went to work for CS building the CSX 4000 cars.
The chassis is complete (suspension, wiring, everything minus engine and tranny). The engine (347 forged eagle stroker) is not assembled. I would like to avoid a toploader so a Tremec TKO was my choice. Any problems with a Tremec in a Hi-Tech car?

The tremec will fit, but you have to do something like this to the transmission crossmember:
Just guessing, I would say the trans mount pad on a TKO is about 4 or 5 inches further aft.

This is really interesting. I have a CSX 4000 chassis and a Hi Tech body. We must be related. Sorry I can't help with assembly stuff but Special K is a real pro. See pics in my gallery.

Not for nothing... but, I seems to me that you guys should swap bodies and enhance the appeal and value of both your cars.

Interesting. Our investments would increase and probably be a wash.

What do you think, Kris. Want to do a swap?

John,
The body on your car was bonded and 'glassed to the chassis, so that would be a nightmare swap.

Specialk, that looks hard! Is there any other way or a different transmission?

double ugly,
did you mount the body to the chassis yourself? Should I fit the body to the chassis and then paint it off the chassis or prep & paint after I permanently mount the body on the chassis? Is there a way to mount the body where it is not glassed or epoxied to the chassis? In other words, what if I want to remove the body afterward? Gluing it down seems so permanent.

Hi-Tech 4000
double ugly,
What is a Hi-Tech 4000? It's a Hi-Tech chassis and a CSX 4000 body!
did you mount the body to the chassis? Must I permantly affix the body to the chassis or can I mount it some other way that could be removed at a later date if needed?
Should I paint the body first and then mount it on the body. This is how I completed two other cobra kits but the body on this is flimsy in comparison (be kind, Unique cars).

Kirkham has a 5 speed trans mount that just welds to the crossmember. You may want to contact them for specifics.
You can rivet the body to the chassis. Johns car is glassed on so it looks like an aluminum car, real nice. The body may appear flimsy, but they will take an amazing amount of abuse without cracking or breaking
