Nisonger Smith's reverse speedo problem

Just installed Smith's gauges from Nisonger. The reverse speedo isn't working. Well I should clarify - the odometer works and ticks over the miles but the speed needle doesn't move. Using the speedo cable from the old Stewart Warner gauge and have a reverser that Nisonger provided installed on the back of the speedo. Funny that the odometer works and the speed doesn't - wouldn't they be driven by the same gear internally?

Sent Nisonger a message too, but figured I'd post here to see what experience says.
Thanks!
Scott

Sounds to me like the problem is internal.

Scott.
I have an extra Smith speedo head if you would like to use it as a test unit.
How ever I agree with Pat. It sounds like a internal problem.

Scott I just had the same problem with my change from a SW standard speedo to a Autometer reversing speedo. Mileage was click off but no movement of the speed. I then noticed that the odometer was going backwards. When I checked the reversing attachement it was not reversing the direction of the cable going to the speedo. It was either broken or was only a 90 degree directional change box. Luckily I had a spair 90 reversing box and when I changed them out everything worked fine.

Checked the drive cable with the reverser on it, and it is working and reversing the rotation direction of the cable. However, something does appear to be messed up inside the unit. I can now see part of a copper coil spring showing in the lower odometer window like it's coming un-wound from the center axle that the gauge is attached to. Contacting Nisonger to swap it out. Are there and tricks I missed on the install that could have caused this?
Thanks!
