Chrome Side Pipes

I have a set of SS pipes. I new the heat would cause discoloring. Does this do the same to chrome side pipes?

yes, heat will cause discoloration on chrome.Your best bet is ceramic coating.

Stainless goes from mirror finish to a rich golden color at the hot spots.

Chrome goes from a mirror finish to a blue tint, with rust forming in the hard to reach spots.

Ceramic coating goes from a less than mirror finish to......Well, I guess it just stays that way.

I like the mirror finish. It matches the roll bar, and the quick jacks, and it just "looks right".....at least to me. Mine are home built stainless.

Go to a motorcycle shop and pick up stuff called Blue Away or Blue Job. One is a powder and the other a paste. They both will take the blue out of your pipes. Easy work, just like polishing a fender.

My pipes had turned almost black when I applied the Blue Job to mine and they look almost new. I believe the powder is about $10.00 for an 1/8 oz and the paste is around $26.00. Paste is easier to use but both work well.
