Lubrication Question

I'm in the process of installing new a-arms, that use a Chrysler ball joint. The general purpose grease specified for Chrysler, is red and a higher viscosity product as compared to the general purpose grease I have used in the past. Is there a reason that the Chrysler spec is different? Is one better than the other? Does it really matter? Thanks.

I'd call a local Chrysler dealership or probably drive in and visit with the service manager and ask ... can't hurt and you'd probably get a quicker answer. I've found most guys like that very informative and if they don't know the answer they seem to be able to contact someone on their staff that knows
