Wow, you caught Michael's updated before I did. We were looking for something that hopefully could breathe a little better when he was driving and not showing off. I'm sure he will catch this and offer feedback.

On Summit site:

Quote:
Net Height from Carb Flange (in): 3.563 in.
Just to correct the info. Michael has SUM-G282 on there which is the 12inch model.

The whole assembly is 3.563" tall.. It'll never fit under my hood..

Anyway, I'm running the 1 3/4" oval K&N filter on my 482".. I dyno'd with and without and @ 440 rwhp I'm only losing 7 rwhp due to the filter. Not too shabby considering how height challenged it is..

oops.. a day late and a dollar short on this post...

Sorry, that was the first upgrade Michael did on his own. He's West Coast and usually checks in here around lunch.

I used the measurements from Summit's web site and built a cardboard mock-up of their 12" unit and it rested right against my hood. I emailed Summit and asked if their filter was available 1" tall (this would still flow more air than a regular oval air cleaner assy) but they said no and suggested I try K&N's site. I might just buy it and return it if I can't get it to work.

Sorry, I was not able to access my system yesterday, so no update to the thread.

The Summit aircleaner works great. No issues on fit. I don't have any dyno numbers of before/after, but it only goes to reason that more air = more power.

The bonus is that the set-up looks good! K&N has a 9" round that is open on the top. However no chrome, so no bling affect. The Summit goes and shows, which is the best of both worlds.

I have a Vic Jr. under a 850 Mighty Demon and, even with the hood spacers in place I have 0" clearance on my mock-up. I like the look of Summit's air cleaner assy. and, if I buy it, I'm hoping K&N has a shorter filter to fit it. I also asked Summit if it was available in a drop base but no dice.

Just a heads up on the Summit vs. K&N filters... I tried to mix and match them about a year ago and the color/style of the elements was not the same. I mistakingly cautioned Michael that it Summit had a mismatch with itself but I checked my notes and it was when we tried to use a K&N filter with a Summit lid.
