Default New b & b project info needed

I just purchased a 2004 B & B Cobra. I want to do a few things to sort it out but need some guidance. I'm looking to put tubular front and rear suspension in the car. First, what is the recommended narrowing width I should look into for the front? I see kits with 5/8" and 7/8" narrowing..has anyone used the 7/8" with success? Is there any rubbing issues? I plan to replace all the wheels and tires with the proper backspacing. What back spacing was anyone used on a 7/8" application? 5/8"? For the rear, what year Mustang is this based on? Same as the front? I'm having trouble finding tubular components for a Mustang II rear from 74-78. That's it for now. I'm sure there will be more projects to come and I appreciate all of you, who have the experience, for your help along the way.

The rear is probably an 8.8 or a 9 inch. Both not from a mustang II.

call Karen or Barry McGill at McGill manufacturing, he was the brains behind B&B and builds cobras and street rods at McGill manufacturing his no. is 417-472-7848, they are both excellent to work with and will help you out with any questions or parts you might need.

I used the Heidts Performance 5/8" for the front and my rims and tires are listed below. I've got a Ford 9" rear and just swapped from the factory set up to a 3.75 Posi. Also, a suggestion for the ride courtesy of Dwight, lighten the springs in the rear. It will help the car from reacting poorly to large bumps.

Rear
17 9.5 @ 4.5 with 285 Nitto 555
Front
17 8 @ 4.5 with 235 Nitto 555

Thanks Dustin, I was actually looking at the Heidts arms. I have the 9" rear end too. Did you use a tubular arm kit for the rear? Do you think it would be pushing it in the rear to go to 10.5 rims and 315s?

I have the 9" rear with adjustable tubular arms. My opinion is it is the only way to go so you can set your rear axle tracking accurately. My rear axle measurements are 55 3/8" axle flange to axle flange, or 56" rotor surface to rotor surface. For the rear I have 10" wheels with 295 tires with 5 1/8" back spacing. The outside bulge of the tire lines up exactly with the center fender lip. Bigger tires may likely stick out. 5 1/8" to 5 1/4" may be the max. back spacing. But this depends on how the rear fiberglass tub was placed as the front inner side wall of the tire my rub the panel behind the seat. I had to cut the fiberglass and move it in to keep from rubbing occasionally. Honestly I would go 275 tires and narrower rims If I was to do it again. For me I like the tires in a little.

For the front I have the narrower tubular arms with 7" rims, 235 tires, and 4 1/2" back spacing. I think this works out good. The outside tire bulge is flush with the fender lip. I do not know the length of the A arms.
