helicoil stripped out of block - now what?
Yesterday while torquing down the head bolts, one pulls the helicoil out of the block @50# torque. Out it came just in pieces of coil thread, which tells me the engine builder probably installed it incorrectly. And there are no threads left in the block for another helicoil. Now what? Anyone have any experience with this?
I don't want to have to pull the block as my rebuild budget is used up. Read something about 2 types of inserts; Keyserts and Timeserts. Anyone tried these?
The machinist who did my aluminum heads says we should use a Keysert but I am worried about the hole size being too big. Tomorrow I am going by his shop to look at them. All advice is greatly be appreciated.
