So tired of tire ????????'s....but
So, BF Goodrich tires 295-50-15's are a thing of the past now, no longer made.
I guess Avon and Goodyear BB's are the only performance choice even for just around town. May look at the drag radials. $&*^$#$^?" Sorry, just typing out loud. STUPID tires and yes, 15's are my choice. Dave |
I am running 17". Nitto DR on the rear and Nitto NT 555 extreme on front. Great traction. I had Yokos but pulled them after 5k because they would not hook up.
Hey!, I recommend the firestone 500, stickey and won't throw stones. I give em' he$$ and they hold up really good.
I've been very satsified with my Dunlops- much better than BFG T/As IMO.
I'm with Chappie, I dumped my BFG's on both of the Cobras I've owned and went to Dunlops. Much better tire, good hook-up, the compound is softer than BFG's and the handling was much better.

El...
I assume the Drag radials are the Goodrich product. I have read the copy over several times and have been wondering if, the only REAL problem is a very soft compound that will blister if run in a heavy car, on hot days. MAYBE not in a light car. Liability is a real problem for any manufacturing company, and tire failures are not good for business. That said, a friend of mine who is an active vintage racer...real 289 Cobra, early GT-350 Mustang, IMSA type endurance car that has run at Le Mans. He just got a set of BFG? Drag radials for a first-run 1976 Porsche Turbo, front and rear...mainly to fit new very wide 15 inch rims. They stick like glue. The test is to come when they get "open tracked" in the spring or summer and we see how they hold up to heat. This car is not going to be raced, just enjoyed. The Drag Radials may, on a LIGHT car, like a Cobra or Porsche, may prove to be a very good tire...just don't road race your Hemi-Cuda, etc. 3500+lbs plus car in hot weather, for sure. I am running Dunlop GT Qualifiers on my ERA 289. They do not stick like the original Hoosier Street T/D's I ran for ~3000K...but bias race tires, are IMHO, a nightmare on the street...tossed them into a dumpster. The Dunlop radials are fine/OK for the street, and have worked in 4 open track events. They now have about 10,000 miles, not much wear. Yeah, I wish they were softer but the are very much a good value and the car tracks like it was on rails. No, they do not stick like race tires, but are you REALLY racing? If not, bias-ply race race tires can be tedious on the street. They follow every crack and crevice in the road surface. Drove me to distraction. Pete |
I just checked and several vendors are selling the BFG's for $128 each??
If they just quit making them how long will supplies last?? Coosawjack:rolleyes: |
Has the "discontinued" rumor been verified, or is it still just a rumor?

????
Went to their web site and they still offer them and no mention of them being discontinued. Tim |
I called Discount Tire and they said there is no where to locate a pair of 295-50-15(GOODRICH). Said they where discountinued.
Dave |
Have you tried Summit?
Someone has to make them, 4000 Shelby's are still being built.
To clarify, CSX4000 series Shelbys'.
Summit shows 295-50 15's from Goodyear, Cooper and Kumho but nothing from Goodrich. Don't know anything about the Kumhos. The price on the Kumho are really low...........maybe TOO low.%/
I understand Cooper Tires makes 15" tires in our sizes. Does anyone have experience with Coopers??
Sears has Goodyear and Firestone
did you try tirerack.com
