Default I need help....Working on wiring.....a few questions, please???

First the basics....I have a Kwik Wire 14 circuit kit that came with my kit....I have read the book forwards, backwards, and sideways and am still cornfused.....close to short circuiting.....maybe I'm just "over-thinking" it......where does the fuse box get its power from?? Is there supposed to be a direct connection from the battery to the fuse box or does it get that connection from somewhere else, routed maybe from the altenator connection or some other source?????

Secondly, there is a wire in the gauge group that says gauge power, does this feed each gauge its electrical power, since there is a seperate wire for gauge lights?????

Thirdly, on your dual filament bulbs, does the tall filament stay lit when the lights are on and the short one light up for turn signal or brake light function, or is it the other way around???

I'm sure I'll have other questions as I progress but for now this is a start.

Thanks, Earl

Hi Earl

Last fall I had the wiring pretty much finished and rewired the harness I have received with the CMC kit. There was no ID on the harness do not know if it is the same wiring harness or not. Basically on mine there was 2 power leads in to the fuseblock, 10 ga grey and 10 ga orange. Grey from the switched steering column and orange from the starter/charging side.

Most of my gauges have a "I" connection for switched power and is Red, this may be your "power" wire.

I believe the "tall" filiment is the running light and "short" is the flasher/brake light

I believe my Painless fuse box has a 50 amp Maxi Fuse between it and the battery.

Earl,

I know that your wiring is different from what mine was, but my gage power wire went to the first gage to feed it power and then was multiple to the rest of the gages. Same with the gage light wire. I did make sure that all of the multiple wires were on good as it would have been a real pain to get back up under there and fix one of them if it came loose. Also I took extra measures with the grounds, running two wires from different locations.

Ron
