I was just this min reading a march 1965 issue of car Life courtesy of ebay.
A ford dealership In the north east tool a new 65 mustang coupe, installed a factory stock 427/425 ,only mods were electric fuel pump and headers, they did use a fiberglass front end to get the car to 2900 lbs.5.12 gear,10 by 15 M&H slicks.
It ran a 10.90 with a SECOND gear launch !!WOW,,what a ride in 65,,,,,Tim

Default 8.34 @160

My car is street legal right down to the tires. I use Mickey Thompson ET street's. They have been fine so far. Launch at 5,500 rpm, 1.25 60's with one stage of nitrous going. Those times were with my old 460. I haven't had a full pass with both stages of nitrous going yet, but this 598 is 7 tenths quicker than the old one straight up. I can't wait till spring.
