I can provide all details but the basics are this:

Grind the carb collar down so that it's nil in the rear and about half original height in the front, tapered as smoothly as whatever tools you have will let you.

Where the carb's rear float screw sticks up, drill a hole big enough to let it pass through, with some extra room.

That should let the baseplate settle down towards the rear so that the AC clears the hood. I have a more standard setup than you, but I went from a quarter or so of interference to over a half inch of clearance.

To seal the hole over the float screw, I used a circular gasket from a brake fluid cap (generic part from NAPA) and epoxied it to the outside (bottom) of the baseplate. It dimples up nicely over the float screw and provides a bumper to keep it from banging up the carb surface.

Polish up all your work and re-spray it black satin (before you glue on the gasket...) and yer done.

Details/pix if you need them. Hope it works for you. Oh, you'll want the K&N filter for the housing, but you have to stay with the original height (about 1" of filter). I had been hoping to get enough room for the 2", but nahhhh.
