Offbeat SB head question

Can a head be pulled on one side leaving the intake in place and still bolted to the other side, then reinstalled and bolted up.

Can you get the gasket for the intake in place?

Stroked motor, 418, AFR 205 head.

Passenger side.

Unusual circumstance.

Is it possible?

Possible ... yes possible but not likely to get her sealed up again properly, pull the intake. Removal of intake makes removing 1 head no problem and allows you to reassemble without fear of vac, coolant or oil leaks.

You can.....but dont

I watched a 5.0 Mustang drag racer swap a single head gasket in the pits next to me and make the next round. It can definitely be done. Takes me more time to change plugs than the whole job took him. Pretty impressive.

Anything is possible but I keep asking myself....why would I want to?

I did it, and it worked. Did use RTV on old inlet gasket which was stuck to the inlet manifold.

I think I might be about to learn a couple of new words.....:)
