ford racing 427 burning oil part 2
Hi all
Well ive got the car back now and the problem was the valve guides were completely shot, the quality of the guides was terrible and just way to soft, the machine shop also discovered that the valve springs were between 90-95 pounds on the seat instead of around 130 this would have caused valve bounce and could have contributed to the wearing of the guides, what gets me is this is a brand new engine and was smoking from day one, i also got a piece of paper saying this engine was run for 20 minutes before packing and shipping , i think not as there was that much oil pouring out of the heads when we removed them, this would have been evident after the test run of the motor, so who ever assembled the heads is to blame as the spring pressures must not have been checked, the assembler of the engine has part blame aswell because they should have checked aswell, sorry ford racing your quality controll sucks! other people with the same problem simply sent them back and had them fixed so we don't really know what the cause was , who knows what ford racing has told them, but i could not do that, so atleast i now know what the real problem was and not these half ass excuses it was the intake manifold or pcv, our mechanics here arn't dumb, they know what there doing, i will be getting a report in the next few days as for know its happy motoring.
cheers chris.
