mine with a standard Melding oil pump and 5w/20 oil is 55-60 cold idle,
50 hot at 2,000 rpms.
hot idle 30 psi.
about 60 psi at 6,000.

Thanks Dwight, I'm using 10W-30. Have 25 at hot idle & 45 hot at 2,000 rpms. Stock oil pump. I've seen psi #'s all over the place. Ford specs say 35 - 65. Nick

Was going to post a question about oil pressure myself. Recently got a little brave.351w running straight 30w 100 mph 4500 rpm oil pressure 45. 125 mph oil pressure dropped to 40 backed off and it came back up. Any opinions or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Personally, I'd dump the 30w oil and refill it with a multigrade like 10w50.

The oil gets thinner as oil temp gets higher.

You could also be sucking the sump down if the oil is still up in the top of the motor, not draining well.

Sounds like you need a 5 speed, what diff gears do you run?
