Yep, the remote solenoid is acting as a junction for power, but I am using it as a relay for the all-important starter signal.

That is not relay now.

I can't see why the solenoid coil terminals have four wires.

If you want to keep the solenoid, think about what is is really going on here.
To me the black wire on the LH post goes to the starter solenoid, so which wire is the start signal wire, and then what are the other two for?

A: Battery
B: Switched battery current when starting
S: Ignition switch 'start' position
I: 12V current for coil for starting (full voltage instead of reduced voltage normally supplied when ballast resistor is used)

I see that now.

That's if he is using a ballast resistor ignition, no mention of that yet.

No ballast resistor (that I'm aware of). The "S" is connected to the spade lug on the PowerMaster solenoid, the "A" is connected to the "Battery" terminal on the PowerMaster solenoid.

Do you think you need this solenoid now you are using a starter with it's own solenoid?

You could remove this to tidy up the installation, unless you want it for authenticity?

What ignition system are you using?

I'm inclined to leave things as they are. There is a Superformance service bulletin I discovered Monday night that prescribes wiring the remote solenoid this way for PowerMaster starters (sure wish I'd had it Sat morning!). I need a relay to engage the PowerMaster solenoid, which is the only function the remote solenoid is playing.

Ignition is MSD.
