Default 351W firing order

I was just out in Riverside, CA at a dynamite cruise. Must have been at least 150 rods & customs.

While I was there someone told me that the 351 W's came with two different firing orders. Does anyone have any info about this? Is this correct info? And, if it is where can I get the info to correctly identify what years or what castings the changes were made and what the two different firing orders are?

Thanks,

Tony

Tony,

My book only covers up to 1972 but my stroker is built with a 74 block and the firing order is the same. Maybe some of the newer ones changed. I need to get an updated book.

As far as I know all 351 had the same firing order. The 302 changed firing order when they made the HO. It changed to the 351 firing order. If you change your cam with one for an older 302 then your firing order changes. Jim

Jim,

I read that same thing and that some people did that to make their 302s sound like the original 289s. Is this a fact or just something they did to be different ?

Thanks,

Ron

Tony,
The cam will determine the firing order. You can have two different firing orders on the 351W.

By the way, you want to see a big cruise, go up to Bear Mountain Inn on any Wed night. I've seen 2-3 hundred cars up there.
