Default Help Please!! 351W Engine ID

I am having a heck of a time finding out what year my engine block is. NO FORD parts people can cross reference it for me. My engine # is D3AE 6015 ED15. Can anybody tell me a website where I can verify what year this engine is?

Where are the casting #'s located?

I've always been curious as to the year of the engine...

Numbers are just above where the starter would be.

Roscoe,

Yes they are... Thanks...
However, it will take an act of Congress to get those numbers unless I remove the starter... Just on the ragged edge of being able to read them but not quite.

You got it Al. The "D" is the decade (in this case 70's) and the second digit "2" is the decade year or 1972.

For the 60's the letter would be "C", 80's "E" and so on. The next two letters in the casting give more info on vehicle type.... which I can't go into here.. too long .. and I don't have the web site that can decypher these casting numbers at my finger tips.... will try to get back with that.

I'm curious, my block has a number very similar to the one at the beginning of this thread, and I have a book that explains how to decode these numbers. But my number has nothing between the D_AE, just a gap, isn't that wierd?
