302 resleeving UK

Hi guys, I have a ford 302 engine with some pretty serious scores down one of the bores. I've weighed up the pro's and cons for a rebore and have decided to have the cylinder resleeved so I can use standard sized pistons (it's only a standard rebuild)
Anything I should be aware of before I have it done?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

The BEST machinist use liqiud nitrogen for this process, perhaps it's not needed, but that what the BEST ones do. You might ask the machine shop if they have experience doing the job and what method they use. Sleeving aint no big deal if it's done right.

Why not buy a new block from Summit for $500.00 or is there something
special with the old?

Are you saying that you want to resleave a cylinder to acheive standard bore size instead of overboring and using (.020, or .030 or .040) oversize pistons?

Buying/shipping a block to the UK starts to get too expensive. Sadly it's a financial thing with me, it's all down to money. The rest of the engine (bores/pistons etc) is in excellent condition so I only really wanted to tear it down to clean it up, inspect it and fit new shells and rings

If you are trying to $ave money just bore the bad cylinder to remove the score marks. Put one new piston in that cylinder, making sure it weighs the same as the rest. I know it is not exactly correct but it would be a shame if the sleeve job ruined your block! That way at sometime in the future you could bore the rest!

+.030 only makes aprox. 6 cubic inches if done to all 8 cylinders--the effect on one cylinder will not be from size but more from a new hone pattern and fresh rings-

We do this sort of thing to race engines( especially dirt late models) Hone all the cylinders for a rering and have that one honed till it cleans up and go to the next std. oversize. Find a shop that has a Sunnen CK10 for the job

Not that odd to have found it to a production V8 in the 60's & 70's in a new vehicle.

I even had one missing the bottom rear bearing shell in a 429. The engine had a light knock under load but OK when cruising. Tech found it before It was delivered to customer.
