help me
hi im new to engine building im startin off with a 351w and i need some tips and other things on whats the best thing to do so if anyone can help please reply to this post or leave me an e-mail

Get yourself the book "Rebuilding the Small Block Ford" and read it from front to back a couple times. That should get you started.

thank you just a quick question which is better in a racing application a 351w or 351m

IMHO, the 351W would be a better racing engine for the sole reason there are more aftermarket performance parts and support available for this engine.
Keep in mind, depending on the class you plan on racing in, a 302 might be a better choice- depending on what the rules/criteria are for the class you plan on racing.
Also, an engine set up for racing is going to be something outside what most home mechanics are going to be able to put together in their garage. Best to let the pros build the race engines since they have the tools and expertise to make it last (hopefully).
