Default 302 FI Supercharged Problems-Cobra No GO

Hey all,

We are currently working on the motor in our cobra and having some problems that I thought I would ask about, and see if anyone had any ideas. First off, we are running a Fuel Injected 302 out of a 89 cobra mustang, with a 6.0 lb powerdyne supercharger, and a ford racing wiring harness. The car has been running until recently when something went to crap. The car now starts and runs about thirty seconds and dies. It does sound like the computer is trying to adjust the engine to run better, but it still cuts out and dies. Holding the throttle open will get the engine to wrap up, but it still ends up dying in about the same amount of time. We have tried a mapp sensor, but it still does the same thing. We thought it might be a fuel pressure regulator, or a faulty fuel pump. The pump runs, but it had a crack in it that we epxoyd shut. Maybe it is sucking air, and after it runs so long it starves the fuel out? It ran for a couple of years that way though. We put our snapon scan tool on the scan port and it goes blank so thats no help there. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
There's nothing worse than a cobra that won't run!

Default fuel pressure gauge

Hi,
1st thing is get a fuel pressure gauge and screw it in the fuel rail at the schrader valve, front pass side.
Turn key on, do not start.
Pressure should be 39
Turn key off
Wait 10 minutes, pressure should hold and slowly go down, if it drops quickly then you have a bad fuel pressure regulator or a bad injector. FIX IT NOW
Next is probably a leaking or blown head gasket. Pull the plugs and do a compression test, should have 150 across all cylinders, 5 and 6 are common to get a leak between them with a blower, replace head gaskets.
Good luck,
Perry.
