Thank you Keith Craft

I ordered my 427w from Keith back in 2005. The whole experience from beginning to end has been excellent. My Dad owned a boat dealership for 40 years and I thought the "old school" type of customer service was long gone until I began dealing with Keith. In a business world full of short-sighted people who just want the money they can get from you today and forget about you tomorrow, Keith stands out as someone who stands behind his product and his customers. Oh yeah, and he builds one hell of an engine!

Thanks Keith,
Doug Campbell

So how is the engine doing? How many miles since 2005?
What are the build specs....heads,cam,and intake, and horsepower level?

Keith is one of the really good guys in our business. My experience with Keith was very good and his advise is priceless.

AFR 205 heads, Performer RPM Dual Plane intake (due to clearance for the coupe), KC custom grind Comp Cam. About 12k miles so far. Dyno results below...

Wow! Look at that Power and Torque. Surprised it runs like that with the RPM intake.
Was the manifold ported and what size carb? Is this a 4.125 Dart block?
I'm building a 427 also,but using the 225 TFS Highport heads.
Maybe I don't need the recommended Super Victor intake!
No,it's not a Cobra, but the engine tech here is excellent!!!!

I do have a question on your dyno graph. Why is the engine going so lean at the top of the run?

CoupedUp 07-05-2009 06:18 PM

Using a Holley 750HP with no choke. Not sure why it is lean at the top of the run - would have to ask Keith on that one as I am not an engine guy by any stretch... Keep in mind also that it has to run on crappy CA 91 octane and is used as a "frequent" but not daily driver. The 12k miles was put on in about 2 1/5 years. I did have it dyno tuned with the coupe exhaust and everything once I had it together and at my altitude, etc. they did re-jet it as it was running lean. It is a Dart iron block with four bolt main. I wanted something fairly indestructible.

Thanks for the info! I remember that Richard Holdener, built a 410 Dart type engine, for the 2004 Engine Master's Challenge event, and also made big torque and power using the RPM AirGap intake. It was really ported out though and mounted a big Dominator carb.

Do you have the in car dyno results? That would make for a nice comparison for h.p. loss from flywheel to rear wheels. Curious why you posted this after 4 years but glad you have good results.

CoupedUp 07-05-2009 10:12 PM

Just posting because Keith still cares about customers four years later - long after he has collected their money. It's a rare thing these days... If memory serves, the rear wheel hp was 437. Keep in mind the coupe has IRS which causes a little more loss, plus not sure what fuel Keith was running on the engine dyno pull. The chassis dyno was using CA 91 octane...

He used that to increase the average HP. It actually made about 60 more peak HP with the bigger manifold.

Thanks for that info. Mark!

More Kudos

My experience with them was great also. I dealt with Lance and he still answers all my questions. Here's an option some may like: I ordered up all the individual parts from them for a 331 stroker build. The only piece ordered together was the short block. This way, I was assured I'd get all matching components, not have too large an opportunity to screw up the build, and still get my hands dirty.

I was very pleased.

Keith is a great guy to do business with.

Two of my Cobra buddies have bought 3 motors from him. Cannot say enough about how great these motors perform in their Cobras.

Keith builds a street motor with lots of torque. That makes it easy to drive in town.

I bought a pair of Keith's Brodix heads after I had tried two brands. I also bought my Custom Comp cam from Keith to match my set up.

I love my little small block. Lots of low end torque and moves my Cobra with easy. I can keep up with my big block buddies

Keith has come to my shop and worked on Lainhart rocker arm. A house call to fix a small problem. That's customer service.

You cannot go wrong by doing business with Keith Craft.

Dwight
