Pasadena Area Cobra Club
Greetings fellow Cobra Club Members in the Pasadena area.
I have now lived in SoCal for five months, and would like to meet some of fellow Cobra owners. In the Bay Area, where I was prior, there was a well established group of Cobra owners who would meet Saturday mornings for breakfast. This was a great experience for all. I know there is an active community in the San Diego area, however I have yet to find the same thing in my new neck of the woods. That is why I am now taking it upon myself to start the ball rolling. Would anyone else be interested in meeting Saturday mornings for breakfast in the Pasadena area? Do you have a restaurant you would recommend? We would need somewhere that would have ample and safe parking for all of the cars while we eat. Also somewhere that could handle our volume, once this thing gets rolling. (I am guessing 5-10 cars initially, hopefully more!) I know there must be a large number of Cobra owners in the area, we just need a venue to meet. When: Saturday 10/20/2007 Where: Pasadena Area Restaurant (TBD) Time: 08:00AM – 10:00AM or so… Contact: Michael White Phone: 650-490-0815 (Bay Area Area Code, but I live in SoCal) Looking forward to everyone's response. I too moved to the So Cal region 2 years ago and miss the breakfast in Dublin. I'm located in La Quinta now (Palm Springs area). Sorry I am not a bit closer.

Okay....52 hits, and only one response from the entire Los Angeles area???
Are you kidding me? Let's try this...if you live within 20 miles of Pasadena, reply. I at least what to know who is out there! :D We can work out the rest later. |
Dino,
I know there's the Cobra Owners Club of Los Angeles that I think meets regularly in La Canada at or near Lynn Park's home. And there's LASAAC that meets (last night) toward the LAX area. Both are a little bit of a hike from Sierra Madre. I lived in Temple City just south of you for 32 years and never heard of any activity regarding Mustangs or Cobras to my knowlege nearby. The active Clubs were a ways off. The closest thing was Irwindale Raceway. I had a real nice GT 350 replica but never met friends with similar interests nearby. I now live in San Clemente on weekends, but still maintain a residence in Temple City during the week. Unfortunately, the Cobra is in San Clemente. I just went on a drive with the San Diego Club down toward Pechanga and that area and it was great. There's some folks that live in the Yorba Linda area and areas south and east of Brea and Diamond Bar, but that is still a ways off from the foothills communities where you are. I think the Cobra Owner's Association of Los Angeles is probably your closest bet. Sorry this wasn't much help. |
Time And Location
Okay...I think to start off, I am suggesting the Corner Bakery at Hastings Ranch. There is plenty of parking, and we can keep an eye on the cars. The restaraunt is located just off the 210 freeway, so easy access is possible from several directions.
Again, if interested, pipe in and let me know...I will be there no matter what. When: Saturday 10/20/2007 Where: Corner Bakery Hastings Ranch 3807 E. Foothill Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91107 Phone: (626) 351-0464 Time: 09:00AM – 10:00AM or so… Contact: Michael White Phone: 650-490-0815 (Bay Area Area Code, but I live in SoCal) |
There are a few Cobras that hang out at the UA Cinemas/Starbucks/Goldstein's Bagels on Saturday mornings, 7 to 9 AM, in La Canada at the 210/2 Freeway intersection. Original Cobras, SPFs, ERA's, Factory Fives, a Butler/Arntz, and my Cobra.
I can be there this weekend about 9:30 for breakfast, and will try to bring some other Cobras with me, but no guarantees! |
Great!
I will plan on arriving at 9am then. This should give some of the guys a chance to sleep in a bit. Any chance you know Dennis at Valley Ford Specialist? See you then. Michael |
I have known Dennis for years!!! I call him Mr. Happy, or on good days, the allegedly salty one!
|
I call him my surrogate uncle!
I love the man and all his saltyness! He is a terrific guy once you peel back his tough veneer. He knows his stuff and I will vouch for him any day when it comes to rebuilding a Cobra, engine or just about anything that needs to be fixed on your car. |
There is a get together in Ventura every 2 months...tri-county cobras. Dec. 1st is the next gathering. PM me and I can give you some contact info if your interested. I just don't think it would be proper to post someone elses info here. 39 cars at the last function.

Pasadena Cobra Meet
In regards to the LaCanada gathering of cars on Saturday morning, everyone gets there around 7am-7:30am and are gone by 8:30am - 9am. They do have some Cobras there but alot of other cars as well...Ferrari's, GT40's, good ol' American hot rods, etc. This started out a few years ago with a handful of cars but now gets about 100 cars or so.
I have a friend who just finished his Factory Five...I'll ask him to attend this Saturday. |
I'm down in Long Beach and would be interested in meeting other Cobra owners, only a little later in the morning (I don't crank it up until after 9:00 am to keep the neighbors from shooting me). I need to look up the Hastings Ranch address on Mapquest, see how far of a trip that is for me. If not this time then some future date?

If you can make it by 9:45, we should still be there... I moved the start time to 9am, so the late risers or early event attendees can participate. Cheers Michael |

Terrific! I look forward to meeting you. Cheers Michael |
I'm out of town this weekend, but am definetly interested in future get togethers. I live in the San Fernando area and work in Pasadena.
Keep me posted. Matt |
I'm interested in future meets as well. I'm from the SFV as well and can't make it this weekend. I'm not a cobra owner (yet) and want to check out a few of these meets and learn what's out there so I can figure out what I want.

Here are some area maps for where the Corner Bakery is located.
