Cobra Detailing Forum
Would it be possible to start a separate Cobra detailing forum, one specifically for recommending products and procedures to keep Cobra's looking good - paint, tires, wheels, glass, chrome - tricks and tips, etc.?
I suppose that it's possible that there may not be sufficient interest, but detailing can be a very time consuming chore that can be cut down with the best products and procedures. Fore example, to keep aluminum wheels looking good, I've found that Mother's Billet Polish applied by hand with Nitrile Gloves will provide amazing results. Also, to get rid of what I call nano-lint from windows one really needs to use a glass specific microfiber towel, Cobra Microfiber Towels Glass Waffle Weave works well along with Stoners Invisible Glass. I've ended up with a ton of products, some work some work not so well. There are products being recommended through this site, but not in one place and searching often doesn't turn up good results. For example, Mr. Buffer is a great product, recommended here by more than a few posters but it's hard to find since it's mixed into threads with a different subject. Anyway, if there appears to be no interest, nevermind. |

I poke three or four small holes into the cap for a 1 liter plastic Pepsi bottle, then immerse the empty bottle into a bucket of soapy water. The cap goes on the bottle, and to dispense the water I simply squeeze the bottle. It is very easy to control where the water goes and a sponge comes in handy for scrubbing what few dirty spots. One tip, here...the fewer holes you put into the cap, the more accurately you can control the location where the water ends up. For rinsing, I usually use a cap with more holes... After the car is all washed (only takes about 10 minutes), I fill the bucket with clean water and use the same squirt bottle to dispense the rinse water over the Cobra. Then a chamois is all that it takes to finish off the job. I've gotten good enough at it that the entire process takes 20 minutes or less. No need for a garden hose or pressure washer. Simple. Fast. No need for massive cleanup, as it usually takes only 3 or 4 liters of soapy water to wash the car and only a couple to rinse it. Try it. Cheers! Dugly :cool: |
I find using scrunched up black & white news paper works best of glass work.
Try it you wont look back That does work, except Newspaper are currently recycled, and most are formulated with adhesives, which glass cleaners will break down leaving a tacky reside and paper ‘lint’ on the glass surface. The inks used and some chemicals can allow ink transfer to the glass. Newspaper inks are now water-based (unlike the older oil-based they will not shine glass) But they will stain your hand black (they dissolve with body heat) so be careful what surfaces you touch after handling newspaper (fabric, leather, plastic, etc) as they may stain. Now this is a bit overboard, since newspaper does work - it all depends on the result that one is out to achieve. |
Good idea.
If any of you use a dehumidifier in your garages, use the water you collect for rinsing your cars off after washing. It dries without leaving any watermarks and doesn't need to be dried off. Especially useful to those of you with big cars that can't be bothered to leather them off. Paul |

Yes please! Lets hear it! My COBRA will be finished this spring. Would love to hear the Ideas and best products from you guys that have had your COBRAS for awhile. Hell I learned some good things just from this.

So, what does one have to do to get a new section added to the existing site format? I would think that a moderator would come around and at least say no to this suggestion or is this suggestion box without a bottom - straight to the garbage can?
