Well, all those other kits sure look great, especially the Ultima, BUT I personally would like to buy another 4 spd '70 Road Runner and convert it over to a SuperBird:o)

I can't comment on the 550 but the mold for the older Beck Listers were taken from an original but were slightly elongated to allow a few more inches of cabin room. Profile differences are really not visible. Also with the original Listers almost no two were exactly alike, some had different hood profiles to suit the engine and intake system differences (Jag 6, Chevy V8 with injection stacks, etc.), higher rear decks for larger fuel cells, some had the hood and door seams separate and some had them as the same seam. I have also taken a fair number of measurements of my Beck Lister and compared to original specs where the originals were consistent and they are spot on. Now where the Beck Lister is much different from the original is in the frame and mechanicals, interior, and windscreen. Now for a truely original replica of a Lister there is a company called Tempero (www.temperocars.com) that makes aluminium replica but I assume that would be big bucks.

I love the alternative kits and I have an Ultima Mk.2 along with a BEVA, a couple of DIVA's and the Victor Coupe.

It looks like Rod Tempero is building a number of great cars in aluminum no
less! Lister Costin, DBR2, Low drag E-type coupe to name a few. The 250 Testarossa under construction looks very impressive. Having any of these
in my garage sitting next to my never-to-be-acquired Lotus 49 would be a
rare privelege indeed!

I have seen the cobra kits that R MOTORSPORTS sells up close. I really think that the space frame they use is the only way to go! Sure do wish I would have bought one! Their prices are very reasonable and JAMIE is a real GO FAST CAR GUY! Rumor has it they are working on a COBRA for BIG GUYS to fit into!

Wow, I hadn't looked at Tempero in quite a while. He is building a short-nose D Jag as well as a Lister-Costin! Very nice.
Of course, I'd be LIVING in the Jag if I were to buy one!:LOL:

Does anyone offer a McLaren Can Am type kit?

I will have to take a look at the magazines I have around the house, but I thought I saw something recently.

After years of "tinkering" with motocycles I have realized I get just as much if not more satisfaction from building as I do driving. That being the case, after I get done with the ERA in the next year or so I already know I am going to want to build something like a vintage mclaren, noble or something else I can really have some fun with a the track.

That new Brute in KIT CAR BUILDER with a BIG small block and a TREMEC would be a REAL BLAST to drive. They build them with a lightweight space frame and an 8.8 Ford rear. If I was not a COBRA GUY I would have to have one!
