Avatar Help

More of a question, rather than a suggestion.

I uploaded a gif photo of a turtle playing a piano into my gallery (Turtle Album) and there is motion on that photo. I also changed my avatar to that animated gif photo, but there is NO motion in my avatar.

Is there some kind of minimum or maximum requirements on gif photos when used as avatars to allow movement?

OK, let the anti-turtle flamers begin, but I hope to get an intelligent answer from someone.

Seems to me that Turtle is moving at his normal speed in your avatar. You need to be patient and watch REAL CLOSE.

:D

Turtle is embarrassed by being used as an Avatar and refuses to move even at his normal speed. Try bribery by offering him a week with the Ho Sisters.

Actually Warren I am not sure but I think when you copied the picture to your Avatar you may have just copied the top frame or need to use a different syntax for the animation. The car in my Signature line used to move but quit after we had the big crash a long time ago and I have never messed with it.

You have thirty (30) pages of pictures to choose from in your gallery and you went with a turtle playing the bones.

The only thing that's important, is that Alien Fred's avatar keeps moving.:D

Last time I tried - I got the message that no animated gifs are allowed, a change from the past. Now, some users display animated avatars, but they may have had them before the change. That's too bad, I've got some great animations that I have created......example.....

Your avatar is frozen but that little buggar is pounding the ivory on your post.

Danr55 10-22-2008 06:07 AM

Maybe that's a post turtle in disguise?

Ron61 10-22-2008 06:20 AM

Warren,

Ok, how did you downsize the picture to use as an Avatar? If you never used an animation program, you will only have a still picture as you need to downsize all frames of the picture. I don't have my animation program on this computer but next time I am messing with my photo program I will see if I can get it down to a workable size for you.

I did not downsize it at all. It was part of an e-mail I got, and I just saved it. It's only about 18 KB. So I uploaded it to my gallery. The animation works when posting it in a thread but does not move when used as an avatar.

I never got any message about gif pics no longer will have movement when used as an avatar.

Maybe I should just send a PM to Ron (computerworks).

Yep,bouncing right along.:D

Maybe Turtle misses your game with the post ?

wtm442 10-22-2008 02:27 PM

Ron

I just saved your moose avatar, and it moves when I use it as an avatar. Guess I'll just have to fool around with the turtle pic to see if I can get him as an avatar. Of course, I could always go back to one of my old avatars, but I like to change it every so often.

wtm442 10-22-2008 02:41 PM

Duh
The piano playing turtle photo is 124 by 129 pixels. It needs to be less than 100 by 100 pixels for use as an avatar.

I do not have a program that will let me change the pixel size on a GIF photo.

Got the Bug 10-22-2008 02:52 PM

Warren - Time to go back to the picture of the babe sitting in your car. :D
