Default Spats for the SPF.

Does anyone make Stainless, or aluminum Spats (rear fender rock guards ) for the SPFs>?

want to find out if someone makes-em before I craft a set.

rock-chip city on my rear spats and my nose.

Steve

I would think that, with access to an English wheel, this could be a good beginner's project to learn how to properly curve aluminum. At least if you screw up it's not like you've tanked $$$ worth of panel.

My SPF has the clear stuff applied to the nose and side "spats" area. Works very well. No chips where it is applied. I am the second owner of the car and do not know which brand it is. I think it looks better than spats or a bra.

Steve,

The clear 3M spats work well...that is unless you want to go "Hollywood" on us. No undercar neon lights, OK?

I have the 3M stuff on my rear fenders, and I'm not really happy with it. Sure, it does well with the small, tiny pebbles, but this area takes a real beating, and the 3M stuff does not prevent "divets" from forming from larger pebbles.

Lately, I've been thinking about black leather spats, however I'm concerned about the fit - they need to fit tight to prevent beating the paint when on the hiway.

If anyone is happy with their black leather (or similar) spats for an SPF, then I'm interested to know about...

Thanks,
Randy...

well, this is also to cover the chips I have from the questionable paint in the 2007 production.

Think i will be making a couple of sets and researching 3M for the CSX.

Steve - what did you end up doing for spats for your CSX? Aluminum or clear? My Billboards are beating the crap out of my rear wheel wells. I'd either add aluminum spats and cover up the area (I am not a fan of the leather spats for my car) or repaint that area and add clear spats.

+1. I'm thinking of just buying a quart of paint and a nice touch-up/airbrush gun. Hit them every now and then and be done with it. It goes with the territory of running the period correct tires. I won't go back to radials (on this car).

I would never give up the Billboards. Drive well (now that I have the correct tire pressures) and I could just sit and look at them on the car for hours. Exactly the way the car should look.

I found these elsewhere on CC and thought I would repost as they are actually kind of hard to find.

EDIT: Might be nice if I included the link: https://www.europaspares.com/COBRA_S...WAS__5428.html

Someone has a picture with them on the car and I will post when I find it again. Here it is:

The ArmorCoat looks interesting too.

Ember, That product looks very interesting, I have 10mm film on my Cobra now but think I will look into this next paint job. What was the pricing for your Cobra and how much did you do? Thx, db #2723

Can you see the Amorcoat at all? Is there much of a ridge where the coverage ends and it was masked off?

I bought the black, carbon fiber spats from FFR and cut them to fit my SPF.

Strong and look killer to boot.

Let me know if you craft a set. One of my clients overseas would be interested in a set.

Post a pic or e-mail me one, please. Just curious to see how they look.

Try this link. They don't show up very well on my car as they are black and my car is dark blue, but they are impervious to rocks and have a sticky backing. Finishline has some thet are black vinyl and they use static cling to stick. Had both, like the look and thickness of the carbon fiber ones.

Here is a pick that from another CCer:

I have the HRE spats, came with the car when purchased (I bought it used,
4th owner since 2002), still fit like a glove and look good; at least on a black
SPF.

Key point there, on a black car. I'm just not into the look, but for those that desire them these seem like a nice option.
