TKO 600 Neutral Safety Switch.
I have a TKO 600 with the standard neutral safety switch and would like to disconnect it so that I can start the car while in gear in case of trouble.
And no, I don't want a bypass switch. I just want to remove/disconnect the existing switch. Where is the switch, and how do I disconnect it without causing any other problems? |
I am not sure were they put there's but I put mine in the clutches hydraulic line look there.

the tko 600 has two wires coming out of the side of the trans around the shifter location on the drivers side.these go to the safty switch. cut the wires and cap off the two going in and out of trans. splice the other two together and that should eliminate the switch

If memory serves they should be black and white stripped wires from the top of the tunnel. they lead into a switch which is on the SIDE of the TKO 600.
There are two switches on the TKO 1. reverse lamp switch 2. neutral saftey switch the factory SPF harness has a dual female T connector off the car harness that you could take 2 x 1/8" male uncovered terminals and make yourself a jumper wire to plug in. Steve |
Sounds like wiring a hidden button to that switch, would be a cheap but efficient way to make sure unauthorized drivers don't steal the car :)

The switch is just in front of the tailshaft housing and has a pigtail going to a plug. (drivers side)
The one on the drivers side about mid-way is the reverse lights (has two pins sticking out the top). You may also have a sender on the passenger side which is the speedo. Splice the two wires together from the chassis. |
FYI: It's just a ground loop at the trans end.

Thanks for the info, I was going to disconnect the safety switch so that I could start the car in reverse and avoid grinding the gears.
Decided to pull the damn trans and fix the real problem rather than just temp fix by bypassing the lockout switch. This isn't going to be cheap either. But, I was tempted! |
