Anyone know what this is about? Could be the debut of the Grand Sport Roadster (I think they've only showed the Coupe so far).

Mark IV 10-30-2010 03:22 PM

I know nothing, NOTHING!!!!! (In best Sgt. Schultz voice) But shouldn't be too hard to figure out (Hint "GM")

Actually I do know but my lips are sealed.......

thudmaster 10-30-2010 03:47 PM

OK, it's out...........they are making a replica of the Volt.........:LOL::LOL:

Uncle Sam 10-30-2010 04:09 PM

I hope it is a 1959 GM Firbird III with a jet engine!

Anthony 10-30-2010 04:12 PM

How many GS vettes do you think they'll sell?

Will it outsell cobra production/year ?

Will it sell like the new SOHC engines ( I don;t think they're selling many) ?

Do you think the fact that you can get a nice mid 60's vette for 30-60K willl affect sales?

I'm not very optimistic it will be a big seller, but it wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong.

Nice car, but I'd rather have a nice mid 60's original vette.

How many Brock coupes have they sold so far?

How many GT40's have they sold so far?

FredBMOC 10-30-2010 06:08 PM

A 63 or 64 Grand Sport, if it could be found, would set you back a lot more than 30-60k. I don't know that it will sell as many copies as Cobras but it definetelly is a cool and rare vehicle that should have it's own following in the vette community.
Hope they do well with it.

Sounds like it's WAY over hyped to me. A Superformance GS Coupe, OK. A "show stopper"? Eh, I don't think so. Nice car and all that, but this is SEMA, there are going to be a LOT of nice cars and inovative examples. The competition for the spot light will be keen. It's hard to imagine a re-worked older Vette with modern bolt on parts being a "show stopper" at a gig like this.

CBattaglia 10-30-2010 07:07 PM

This is going to be very interesting. The more rare, expensive, nostalgic, and beautiful the car is the better the replica market will be.

Anything after the cobra will be a very distant second.

I dont see it taking off, but then again I didn't think the yuppie coffee/pastry shop that opened down the road from me would do well and the damn parking lot is always full !!

Rick Parker 10-30-2010 07:10 PM

Light weight Corvair?

twobjshelbys 10-30-2010 07:16 PM

Gran Sport...

Only two Corvettes have ever turned my eye. The Gran Sport and the '63 Split Window.

I was surprised to hear that coffee is the #2 traded commodity in the world.

#1 is so far out in front nothing can touch it, it's oil, black gold.

Coffee and fuel, keeps my motor running. :)

Please define 'nice.' $30K will buy you a non-numbers matching patchwork of a car that probably requires signficant bodywork and a total resto. Some bargains had for $55-60K, but you're not going to get a numbers matching car with recent resto at that level. Just a simple driver that needs various levels of TLC.

I think Superformance has something here. Just a really tough economy to push forward with ANYTHING.

Excaliber 10-30-2010 07:48 PM

Rumor has it there are more numbers matching Chevy's out there than Chevy ever made.

:)

That's probably a true statement. And '32 Fords also apply to that statement.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be a Vega replica. The market has been begging for one. ;) :)

If they use the same motor design, that's going to create an oil shortage for sure.
