Chromed metal protections for MK3 rear fenders.
I just join your Club yesterday.
I am French and live near PARIS (France / Europe).
A few days ago, I bought a marvelous second hand COBRA REPLICA SUPERFORMANCE MK3, in California. The car is now on the ocean to join me.
The car is like new, but rear fenders presents some little stone shocks.
I, of course, can not repaint the car fot that.
So, in order to hide the little shocks, and to avoid new dammages, I want to put on the fenders a CHROMED METALLIC PROTECTION, as we can see on most of the british replicas.
Superformance only sells nylon protections like 3M. I dont want that.
Does somebody knows where I can found the CHROMED PROTECTIONS I nead, matching perfectly with my Superformance MK3.
Thank you for your kind answers, and best regards.
Saint Ho.

Haha, répéré St Ho !
So, welcome in the "French Superformance Owners Club" ... I've got some clear 3M tape on my rear fenders, which are perfect againts stone chips. You can find some aluminum wheel arch spats here (the best is for us to order on UK online shops) :
https://www.europaspares.com/product...s___CWAS_.html
but it will certainly need some adjustment to fit perfectly. SPF doesn't sell some ready-to-fit fender protection device.
A bientôt pour une petite sortie...

I would think that using a metal covering would, in time, cause additional damage to the fiberglass unless it was applied with a stick tape backing. But that to would be difficult as the exact contours of the fiberglass may vary from car to car. There have been some very nice vinyl or leather “spats” made by a few owners. They attached to the convertible top pins on the top and heavy duty Velcro on the bottom.

Interesting that I posted this as post #2 which was removed and replaced by yours?
Saint Ho, they're called "spats" and polished aluminum is what you are looking at. You can get them here ...

Hi Blass.
Thank you for your answer.
Of course, it is necessary to put a soft sheet behind the metal stone protection.
It works perfectly like that on my PILGRIM replica, and on British DAX.
Best regards.

Hi AL427SBF.
Thank you for your answer.
I have the part you propose on my actuel COBRA PILGRIM REPLICA.
- 1 / The quality of the metal is very poor, and can not be perfectly polished, or chromed.
- 2 / Mainly, the shape does not match with the Superformance Fenders.
Best regards.

I also have them and they were nearly polished enough out of the box - have them like a mirror now, no defects or dings. It's aluminum so you can't chrome them (nor would I want to - chrome chips). You can bend and trim them a little to fit the rear flare contour, no metal spat will be a perfect fit out of the box as every replica is a little different in body shape. Sounds like the guy that put those on your pilgrim didn't do a good job.

Hi AL427SBF.
Thank you for your message.
If I have not found an other solution, when I shall recieve my SUPERFORMANCE, end of February, I shall loock if it is possible to adjust a protection made for a Pilgrim, on the fender of the Superformance.
If it appears the result could be good, I shall buy to new parts, adjust them, and make them miror polished.
I shall advise you of the result.
Kind Regards.

Hi AKFSIH.
Thank you. Your photo shows what I want to protect my fenders.
It seems to be polished aluminium.
Questions :
Is it your car ? Is it a Superformance ? Where that parts hand-made fot that car, or manufactured ? If they are manufactered, where is it possible to buy them ?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards.
Saint Ho.
