Cleaning Sidepipes
Hi All. I have SPF2828 with the standard factory sidepipes. I hate to ask but are these Stainless or Ceramic and what is the best way to polish these. I tested Aluminium polish and that dulled the finish so appreciate any of your wisdom : )

Cleaning Sidepipes!
Your Superformance sidepipes are almost certainly ceramic coated as are mine! I tried several different polishes until I discovered "Maas", which comes in a tube and is sold most everywhere [auto-part stores, hardware stores, home centers, Amazon, Ebay, etc.] You might also want to spend a few bucks on a "buff" for an electric drill to make the job a little easier! My pipes look better now then when they were brand new!

If they get really grubby try 4"O" steel wool and metal polish. The 4O wool is softer than the aluminum embedded matrix that makes up the ceramic coating so it won't harm it if you don't go overboard.

Blue Magic metal polish cream is the best I've found. Easy on, easy off.

Use Flitz or ExoticMetal polish. Then soft cloth or 0000 steel wool.

I use the Meguiar's Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum Polish for the sidepipes and the wheels. Works great and takes no time at all.

For stainless pipes, oven cleaner works best for me. After protecting the body paint by covering the sides of the car behind the pipes with aluminum foil secured with masking tape--got if from the kitchen--I coat the pipes with the oven cleaner. I then get the pipes really hot by running the engine so the cleaner can do its job. After they have cooled, I wipe the cleaner off to expose the clean pipes. I do like the straw discoloration of the stainless pipes, though. It doesn't take long for the color to come back.
As for how oven cleaner works on ceramic-coated pipes, I don't know. But it works so well on stainless, I'd give it a try on a spot underneath.

Plastic Bag
I happened to "catch" a plastic grocery bag on my hot pipes and it was a major feat to get it off. Used lacquer thinner and 0000 steel wool and it took hours and hours. Next time i'll try the oven cleaner. You should see how I try to manuever around anything flying in the wind lest I end up with more gunk!
