PRO 5.0 or Steeda Triax w. TKO600

I have the stock shifter in my ~new SPF cobra (#3033). I have the Jordan standard length handle. The tranny is a TKO600. I'm thinking of upgrading to a Pro 5.0 or Steeda Triax. I've read lots of comparisons - seems like a lot of people really like both.

Anyone tried either of these with a TKO 600? And with the Jordan (I'd like to use the Jordan again)? Any info on changes in handle locations from the stock shifter? How about throw? Any other distinguishing features that would help with the decision?

I vote for the Pro 5.0, I had one and loved it, the Pro is just a strudy design, and shift quality was excellent, the attention to detail is better than the steeda.

Steeda Tri-Ax gets my vote.

The Pro 5.0 shifters are really transmission dependent. They work extremely well with T5's, T-45's, and 3650's. On the bigger boxes, they seem a little notchy.

I'm very pleased with the Pro 5.0 with my TKO600 -- it felt much better than stock. I also briefly had a T5 with the Steeda in a blown Mustang and liked it, too, but I found a Pro 5.0 at a good price. Either way, it will feel better, but third gear still can be tricky -- the TKO600 is just never going to shift like a Honda S2000.

I would suggest you investigate the MGW shifter. It is adjustable and in many experts opionion a superior product.

Matt, I had researched the shifters referenced. Actually found few SPF owners who have used the MGW. But there are some on CC and others using it with non-SPFs. There are many Factory Five guys who are using the MGW.

One of my research points was to ask Dennis Olthoff for his recommendation. Hands-down he said the MGW was his preference. My discussion was based on using with T56.

IMO, every shifter has its "preferred" trans. I like the MGW in a T-56 as well, just like the Pro 5.0 in a T5/T45. My vote still goes to the Tri-Ax in a TKO 500/600.

Good point...and to be very clear my research was based on T56. Tri-Ax is definitely a very nice unit!

I personally like the TriAx - it is a nicely made unit , and does the job well on a big box, - I use them on my T56s in both cars .

Fellas, is the steeda tri ax easy to install in an SPF with a TKO-600 from inside the car or would I have to remove the transmission to fit it? Any insight would be great!

I just put a PRO-5 in my SPF/TKO6oo and real, really like it. It was tight on installing but was able to get it in without removing the tranny. Keep in mind, my only reference point is the stock shifter and recommendations from 3 other gear heads that have Cobra's in my area.

I suspect you could do it by just removing the tunnel.
