Default Radiator cap ?

Hi Guys, I Owen# 2258 . i installed a recovery cooling tank to keep fluid off my garage floor. It seems that cooling fluid doesn't go back to to stock expansion tank. When i open stock tank there about !/4 inch fluid in the tank. the recovery tank never drains back. The engine runs at the right temp. , even on a 95 degree day. I'm running the stock cap do have change it out? also what lb. pressure cap should i be using? and what type of cap too.

Which recovery tank did you install?
The JAZ tank comes in two versions: Catch tank and a Recovery Catch/Recovery tank.
A photo would be helpful.

Make sure you plumbed the hoses to the correct spouts. If reversed, it will fill, but not return to the system when pressure is relieved.

I looked at your recovery bottle and only find one inlet spout. And that one is up at the top. In order to be a recovery tank, it should have the inlet at the bottom and the overflow outlet near the top. This one just looks like an overflow catch can. Check out #9133. You'll see two spouts.

Regardless of the type of recovery tank that you use, you will need to swap out the radiator cap on the expansion tank to a recovery type, so that it allows the fluid back into the system. I believe the stock cap on the expansion tank is a one way cap which will allow the fluid out but not back in.
